Celena's passion for makeup started when she was a young teenager growing up in Manchester, listening to the synth pop sounds of the 'New Romantics' era, a movement that swept through the UK in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The bold and flamboyant styles of bands like Adam and the Ants, Visage and Duran Duran left a lasting impression on her, igniting a passion for makeup as a form of artistic and personal expression. She would spend hours trying to recreate the looks of the iconic young artists of the post punk era.... Siouxsie Sioux, Debbie Harry and Toyah Wilcox.
After relocating to London, Celena completed a course in Fashion and Media makeup at the renowned London College of Fashion, followed by a 2 day a week position working for the only makeup company budding makeup artists wanted to work for, MAC Cosmetics.
Working at MAC and being surrounded by such enormously talented co-artists was invaluable hands-on training as she would practise the skilled techniques for makeup application on all skin ethnicities, sexes and ages. Celena's talent was recognised, so she worked as part of the MAC Pro-Team at events and shows across the UK.
Outside of her hours at MAC, Celena immersed herself in learning her trade by assisting some of the best makeup artists in the industry at London, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks. These included Val Garland, Dick Page, Mary Greenwell and Alex Box. She tested with photographers and stylists, and worked for free at every available opportunity to build her portfolio and gain knowledge.
Her artistry has led her to work with numerous recording artists and celebrities, where her signature looks are super polished with attention to the finest detail, be it a flawless minimal beauty look to a high end glamour red carpet event. Obsessed with symmetry, perfection and details, Celena has saved re-touching budgets with her flawless attention to detail work. Her perfected technique and easy going on set personality have made her popular with clients and photographers alike.
Celena was the indispensable makeup artist for The Saturdays for their 7 years, creating all of their renowned super polished looks for television, music videos, photoshoots and red carpet premieres. As well as travelling with them three times on tour, Celena travelled to Asia for promo work and to the USA where she spent 3 months whilst they filmed their reality TV show for E! Entertainment 'Chasing The Saturdays'.
Celena worked with All Saints considerably for their 2017/18 comeback and album promotion, and also toured with them on both their own UK tour, and also as Special Guests with Take That.
Also she has also worked considerably with Mel B, filming a series of UK Lip Sync Battle and during her time as an X-Factor judge. She also worked with Mel on her 2018 book tour in the UK, and the promo for The Spice Girls 2019 tour.
